I have to admit I only learned about George Obama — Barrack Obama’s half-brother currently living in Nairobi, Kenya under, it seems, rather poor conditions — from Dinesh D’Souza’s blog. This CNN clip will give you some background.
Apparently, the situation has left D’Souza aghast:
Here is a guy living in Third World destitution and his half-brother is the leading candidate to become the next president of the United States! How can we be blind to this national disgrace?
I’m not sure what, exactly, he is aghast about — the fact that people live in Nairobi, Kenya? –the fact that some people are poor? –the fact he feels “disgraced” by George’s… er… existence? –or is it the fact that he (D’Souza) has not been privy to private conversations between Barrack and George?
So to satisfy his sense of outrage and “injustice” D’Souza has started a “George Obama Compassion Fund.” Now keep in mind this is the same D’Souza who insisted it’s racist to vote for Obama. This is the arch-conservative D’Souza who loves Palin because of her religious views and who views equal rights legislation as a violation of the constitution because is supplants “majority rule.”
So, my question is, who does he think he is fooling? This deeply religious Christian has started a fund to bring from Kenya the brother of a presidential candidate who he opposes — and is doing so under the guise of “goodness”? Oh come on… Why, Dinesh, would you start a fund to “save” only George? Are there not worse-off folks? What about those who are not brothers of presidential candidates? What about those who have not expressed a wish to stay in their country? D’Souza’s article clearly defends his actions as not a political stunt. D’Souza thinks (does he really?) that we are going to believe this is not a way to “embarrass” Barrack… that he is not using the life of another human being as a ploy to bring “shame” on a presidential candidate… uf… the disingenuousness runs deep with this one…
